Bachata is a dance style that originates in the Dominican Republic. This dance is widely danced all over the world but not in an identical way. But in the 1970s, they started using it as an insult. Nowadays, bachata is not only the term of art. It is the most popular style of Latin dance music in the world.The first recorded composition for Bachata was made by José Manuel Calderón of the Dominican Republic.
The form of dance, bachata, was also developed along with the music. The basics of this dance are 3 steps with a movement of the Cuban hip and followed by a touch with a movement of the hip in the fourth time.

HOW IT IS PERFORMED

The steps with series are involved in Bachata's basic footwork. It is associated to generate a round trip. And it follows a rhythm of 120 beats in one minute and 4/4 of music. There are three simple steps in combination with 4 music rhythms.

THE DANCE STYLES IN BACHATA

There are varieties of dance styles mixed in this style of bachata, which are:
Dominican style: 
The original style of bachata. Initially, it will be like Bolero. However, later, small steps were added in closed and open positions. These developments depended on the mood of the dancer and the character of the music. The style contains smooth movements of the hip and a small pop in the fourth time. Without any bounce, it can be done.




Traditional style: 
It was the first non-Caribbean style. This style was developed in the United States and Europe. Its peculiar characteristic was a close relationship with the partner. The basic steps include side-by-side movements with smooth movements or in place with very slow and smooth hip movements and a small click in the fourth beat.

Modern style: 
This style is known as Modern Bachata. It is another unique style that originated in Europe. The basic steps include movement from side to side. Not only is it moving from left to right but also to other directions. The style adds basic steps of Tango keeping the pop or hip movement to the count of 4!
Ballroom style or BachaBallroom: has hip movements with extreme and, therefore, out in the US. UU / Europe only for dance competitions.



GENDER ROLLS ASSOCIATED WITH BACHATA

COSTUME

Bachata is a couple dance and now it is danced all over the world. There is no specific costume for the bachata dancers. People usually wear casual clothes. Rufty skirts are recommended for women as it shows the movements of the body. The males can use anything. For shoes, females can wear flats or heels so they can dance comfortably for an hour. You should make sure they have a strap on your ankle so they do not slip or turn. Sneakers, however, are not recommended.
